Behind the Ad
Suzano Papel e Celulose, the second largest global producer of eucalyptus pulp and a regional leader in the paper market, introduced a new set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in order to measure tangible improvements in productivity and consequent reduction in cost:
- Improvement in On-Machine Efficiency (OME)
- Increased machine speed
- Increased sheet ash content
- Reduced chemical costs
- Improved sheet quality, including smoothness
Nalco was asked to review all aspects of the papermaking operation and identify areas for improvement which would positively impact these KPIs in particular, in situations which might arise when applying Nalco PARETO Mixing Technology.
As a result of integrating PARETO Mixing Technology into a Wet-End program, the sustainability performance of the mill was improved, in particular through reduced demand for both chemical volumes and fresh water resources. Major improvements in Wet-End optimization delivered major improvements in process operations, and significantly increased the profitability of the production operation.
