Sugar Land Team Hosts Ultra-Deepwater Lab Open House
Several major energy companies recently attended an open house for our Ultra-Deepwater (UDW) Research Lab in Sugar Land. Hosted by our UDW Team, headed by Angela Johnston, Marketing Manager, and Steve Allenson, Industry Fellow, the event featured lunch, presentations and small group tours of our lab facilities.
Kevin Friar, Vice President, Oil Field Chemicals, underscored Nalco’s commitment to the UDW sector in his opening remarks. With deepwater operations expected to account for 25 percent of all exploration efforts by 2015, Nalco is taking steps now to provide its customers with the resources required for success.
“The Open House was a great opportunity to not only show off our state-of-the-art research capabilities but also to demonstrate our leadership in the Ultra-Deepwater sector,” Angela said. “Feedback from the participants indicated that they’re excited about the development of our new Flow Assurance technologies and value the partnership that they have with Nalco.”
Nalco’s new UDW Lab features 28 rocking cells, autoclaves, rheometers and other sophisticated equipment used to simulate the challenges associated with sub-sea separation, cold flow and artificial lift. Our scientists use these apparatuses to develop and test new technologies that meet customer needs, environmental requirements and global energy demands.
