Fermentec Endorses Nalco Yeast Activity Monitor

Nalco's Yeast Activity Monitor technology has recently finished an extensive review by Fermentec,, the leading consulting company in Brazil specializing in alcohol fermentation and laboratory control for alcohol production. Fermentec has validated many other technologies that have gone on to become commercially successful in the ethanol industry.

Fermentec’s final report endorsing the YAM was released this month and concluded that "The YAM system can be used to check yeast activity at initial stages of fermentation where no other analytical procedure has been used by the industry to check yeast health or its activity. By the use of YAM system it is possible to evaluate the yeast activity and factors that affect the yeast cells at the beginning of fermentation. The system is very useful and fast to distilleries that need to check activity of yeast cells as well as to identify and solve commons problems found daily by the industries."

Heitor Zuntini, Industry Development Manager, has been instrumental in doing the commercial development of this technology in Brazil for the brewing and ethanol industry. Nalco will be showcasing the Yeast Activity Monitor August 31st to September 3 at Fenasucro, an international tradeshow of the sugar and ethanol industry in Brazil.
