Graphic Paper Grades

Mechanical Grades of paper continue to face both economic and technical challenges. The changing global economy, competition from alternative media and “grade swapping” require manufactures to carefully manage their production costs. In addition, the integrated nature of the manufacturing process and the use of both virgin and recycled fiber create unique technical challenges.

Nalco provides a comprehensive portfolio of programs to the manufacturers of mechanical grades. These state of the art programs result from grade specific research that is focused on key customer drivers such as cost, brightness, opacity, gloss, and printability.

In addition, Nalco’s expertise in water and wet end chemistry allows us to improve the stability and efficiency of the process, as well as the end-product quality by eliminating any incompatibilities between applications.

Printing and Writing

Papermakers are continuously working to differentiate their products from the competition by better addressing the end-use requirements of their customers. Nalco understands that grade enhancement and development are key drivers in the fine paper segment.

Nalco is working both internally and externally with leading research institutions and other co-suppliers to the industry to develop innovative programs that deliver print, structure and optical advantages to our customers. In the growing area of digital printing, Nalco’s programs are being engineered to deliver optical density, ink mileage, toner adhesion and multi-functionality.

Nalco’s ultimate goal is to help our customers become more competitive and more innovative in their market.
