Prism® Styrene Front End Corrosion Inhibitors

In styrene dehydrogenation, one of the process by-products is CO2. The presence of water and small amounts of oxygen can be a root cause of corrosion in these plants.

If the plant has a good vacuum system and perfect control of O2 inlets, corrosion is not a major problem. However, when a compressor fails, or if oxygen find its way into the front end section, corrosion can be possible.

To mitigate the limitation, it’s useful to add a corrosion inhibitor. The choice of the right chemical is not simple, as this product must be capable of quenching the corrosion problem occurring mainly at water condensation points, without creating any unwanted side effects.

Nalco offers proven multi-component corrosion inhibitors, capable of efficiently mitigating these limitations.
