Acrylex® Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) Esterification section antifoulant

The acetone cyanohydrine process to produce MMA has been practiced commercially since 1937 and is based on technology patented by ICI Chemical Company in 1934. It involves the reaction of acetone cyanohydrin with sulfuric acid to produce MMA via the intermediate methacrylamide sulfate.

Inhibitors are introduced at specific points in the process to prevent polymerization of the various unsaturated intermediates and products.

Nalco worked closely with several producers to develop a series of programs targeting the improvement of the MMA esterification process operations. Contact us to discuss your plant performance and limitations you are experiencing.
