Sales
Those interested in a career in sales often start as a District Representative -- a position that is typically filled by individuals with engineering or chemistry-related degrees. A career in sales offers many opportunities; for those interested in pursuing a sales management position, greater responsibilities can often be obtained by managing more complex sales situations and working towards Account Manager and Area Manager positions. Sales professionals can also obtain people management experience in the District Manager and Sales Manager roles.
Additionally, sales experience lends itself to a career in marketing, wherein individuals work closely with Research and Development to develop key technologies and create strategic deployment strategies. Individuals typically start as a Product Specialist or Product Manager and then advance to an Industry Development Marketer role, utilizing a global business perspective to develop key technologies.
According to a 2009 poll by Selling Power Magazine, Nalco ranks 2nd among the Top Manufacturing companies to sell for.
Testimonials
Sales Manager
"Being a part of setting strategic direction of the WPS Division is exciting. The disciplined business practices developed over the last several years ensure that our vision looks past the monthly results and focuses on our long-term strategy. We continue to invest in new technologies and people development. Nalco is and always will be the innovative company in our industry, and our competitors are always trying to play to catch-up."
Chris, Water and Process Services, Western North America Region

Area Manager
"I love the autonomy and variety! No two days are ever alike – I never get bored. Nalco developed me to be the water treatment expert in power plants, chemical processing/refineries and health-care industry. I can be inspecting plant equipment wearing cover-alls and a hard hat in the morning, presenting technical recommendations at a production meeting by afternoon or at an entertainment event with key decision makers at night."
Jennifer, Water and Process Services, Western North America Region
Account Manager
"I feel that Nalco cares about me. I am expected to work safely -- that is Nalco’s first priority. Nalco also provides their employees with the tools and training to be safe, knowledgeable and confident in their jobs. Nalco also emphasizes ‘maintaining customers for life’ – this is not a statement, but rather a process and a team approach that ensures that our employees are consistently working to provide value to our customers."
Susan, Account Manager, Energy Services, Beaumont, Texas

I love being able to take on new responsibilities and challenges that make work challenging, fun and rewarding. I love the team atmosphere of the job and the support I receive from the people I work with that helps me do the best job."

District Representative III
"I chose Nalco because it is #1 in its field. Also, the job description exceeded my expectations toward my career aspirations. In this profession, not only do I employ my science degree and previous engineering experience from the Navy, but I also get the wonderful opportunity to work with people with a multitude of experiences."
Mary, Energy Services, Texas City, Texas

Regional Sales Manager
"I joined Nalco as a Field Sales Engineer after two years as a project/process engineer in a heavy industrial plant. I progressed up the sales management chain to the current position as Sales Manager for the Downstream North America business unit. This path has allowed my fulfillment to remain consistent with areas of responsibility for direct involvement in the strategies for Nalco growth."
