Over the past few years, there has been a significant increase in technical support requests from our customers in primary fractionators (ie. gasoline fractionators, quench oil towers, etc). The opportunities for advancement in this area directly parallel Nalco’s company mission to help our customers reduce their carbon footprint while saving them money.
Since 2006, Nalco has dedicated significant research resources to primary fractionators. Our goal is to provide monitoring tools that not only tell an ethylene producer how the system is performing now, but predict future performance based on operational parameters. We have developed new analytical methods and performance monitoring tools based on our findings. We are currently developing an economic model because, unlike other areas in the ethylene plant, the total cost of operation (TCO) savings available via optimization goes way beyond simply meeting a runlength target.
