MERGUARD® Cosmetic Preservatives

We also know that preserving your formulations in a safe, proven and cost-effective manner is always a key element of your success in today’s marketplace.

MERGUARD Cosmetic Preservatives have an excellent profile of use in dozens of consumer products, including sun and hair care products and color cosmetics. They are based on the proven antimicrobial technology of methyldibromo glutaronitrile, which discovered and developed by our experienced Research and Development team. Created to protect your formulations against a broad range of bacteria, yeast and mold, MERGUARD preservatives are proven effective against problematic organisms such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Burkholderia cepacia.

MERGUARD provides a broad spectrum of efficacy against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, molds and yeasts, and it performs synergistically with other common preservatives such as parabens, isothiazolones and formaldehyde donors.

It is actively available in phenoxyethanol, propylene glycol and dipropylene glycol for compatibility in most personal care formulations, and is effective over a broad pH range (below pH 8.0). Merguard is effective at low concentrations, offering an excellent safety and toxicology profile, and may be used alone or in combination with other preservatives.
