Fortis® Butadiene Mix C4 Stabilizers
Mix C4 streams produced in ethylene crackers can contain anywhere from 30 to 80% of 1-3 butadiene. During the storage and/or transportation of these streams, butadiene may react to form polymers. Butadiene polymer in C4 streams can foul flow meters and the transferring pipelines. In addition, polyperoxides may also build up while in storage causing an explosion risk. The potential for butadiene fouling and poly-peroxide formation increases with increasing monomer content, oxygen ingress, temperature, and residence time.
