Biocontrol Programs

The Nalco BIO-MANAGE® program is part of our comprehensive biocontrol service that provides microorganism control and clean systems. The program offers services that meet diverse needs and deliver superior results. The program includes innovative monitoring tools, on-site service and analysis, and technology such as: TRA-CIDE®, Selecticide, Optical Fouling Monitor and STA•BR•EX.®

STA•BR•EX®

The world's first stable, liquid bromine-based antimicrobial was invented by Nalco to control biofilms caused by microorganisms in cooling tower, condenser and heat exchanger systems. It is easier to apply and safer to handle than chlorine or other bromine-based products.

It can be used in:

Industrial and commercial recirculating cooling water systems
Air washers and scrubbers
Industrial pasteurizers
Heat transfer systems
Paper mills
Decorative fountains

STA•BR•EX® benefits

Stability - Activity of product won't decompose in storage, which leads to cost-effective control; fewer manhours required to feed a consistent dose.

Compatibility - Less aggressive to scale and corrosion inhibitors used in industrial water treatment than other oxidizing biocides.

Low volatility - Results in lower halogen feed rates, less odor, better tower fill fouling prevention and lower air emissions.

Biofilm removal - Penetrated and removes biofilms to help maintain clean heat transfer systems.

Liquid - Easy to safely feed and control.

Effective - Better performance at high pH, more persistent than chlorine.

Environmental compliance - Less reaction with organic contaminants to help meet AOX and THM discharge restrictions, higher Reportable Quantity than bleach.
